Information about the use of cookies on dentalnumancia.ess: we would like to inform you that our website uses cookies to analyse users’ browsing and to provide a better browsing experience.

This is something that virtually all websites do (sometimes without realising it, as with many personal blog users), but we want to be clear and transparent about how we use them in our case.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are installed on the device you use to access our website, for a wide range of purposes related to browsing, such as recognising you when you return to our website or remembering your preferences.

Cookies are an essential tool for correct navigation on most websites (including ours), making websites easier to use and improving the browsing experience.

Cookies also sometimes help us identify browsing-related errors that would otherwise be difficult to detect, making it easier for us to correct them.

A cookie cannot, in any case, damage your device. The reason you now see many cookie notices is not because this is new (cookies have been around for decades), but because users are now informed about what data is handled through them (even if it’s the same as it always has been).

Depending on how long they remain active, cookies can be:

  • Session cookies: These last for a very short time, usually until the browser is closed (or shortly after), and disappear without leaving a trace on the device. Their purpose is often to store certain variables or data for short-term use, making browsing easier and improving usability. These are the ones we use most, and they enable things like adding items to the basket, not having to fill in a form again if you need to go back, etc…
  • Persistent cookies: These last longer, although always for a defined period (they have an expiry date). They store data that, for different purposes, is useful to keep for a longer time. For example, they remember your username each time you visit so you don’t have to sign in every time.

Depending on who manages them, cookies can be:

  • First-party cookies: Managed exclusively by us in order to facilitate browsing and the correct use of the website and the purchasing process.
  • Third-party cookies: Sent by an entity other than us, which is responsible for processing the data. For example, Google, our analytics provider, helps us better understand aggregated behaviour (never individual behaviour). Many of these cookies are only installed if you come from a third party (clicking an advert, an email, a social network, etc.).

Depending on their nature or purpose, cookies can be:

  • Technical cookies: Essential for the correct operation of the website or a specific feature. Most are first-party cookies that we use to improve our service. Basic things such as remembering the products you have added to the basket, recognising you as a customer each time you visit (if you have signed in), remembering form data in case you need to go back, correctly calculating shipping costs, etc…
  • Analytics cookies: These allow us to count users and analyse their browsing behaviour in an aggregated and anonymous way. They are often third-party cookies that provide data such as the most visited pages, times, and devices used. This is very helpful for improving the website layout and understanding what is most interesting to users or where there may be a browsing issue.
  • Advertising cookies: These allow us to measure and optimise the impact of advertising campaigns. They are also usually third-party cookies that help us understand the impact of a campaign across search engines, social networks, email, other websites, etc…

The data they provide is aggregated and anonymous, like analytics data, and is sometimes integrated into the same reports.
